Located next to the M4, the site is made up of six blocks ranging from four to 17 storeys and is home to 688 students from the University of West London (UWL) and Imperial College London (ICL). There are also 105 shared ownership leaseholders living there, plus 65 people who pay discounted rent as part of a scheme aimed at key workers and others. On the issue of the EWS1, we were deployed. We contacted Select Solutions through a referral.
Select Solutions were invited to provide a full site Waking Watch program across the site with less than 24 hours notice. Due to the size and the nature of the project (this particular site did make both the local and national press) we had to work not only to ensure the well being of everyone on site but had to negotiate and enforce this during the evacuation process.
Initially, we deployed 49 waking watch officers, across blocks A, B, C and D with the addition of a roaming supervisor on site. As the job has progressed and the site has become vacant numbers of officers have fluctuated but we have reviewed the site weekly and added and removed staff as required.
Select Solutions are one of those companies you can just rely on. In this instance they worked diligently, produced daily reports on any issues that may come up during their watch. I would highly recommend them for any waking watch and would most certainly use them again going forward.
